What an amazing team! We had Molly Kim, Chloe Fernandez, Patricia Conception, Rachel Cheng, Kate Kim , Claire Spring and Eryc Pollack from the Interactors. Gayle, Dan, Coreen, Yvonne, Danne, Bill, Ian, Vida, Patty, Carly and Cleone from the Rotarians. Then we had Rotarian family with Kathy Stjellengaard and the most adorable grandchild, Don Klassen and Kerry Dunlop (in spirit). It was wonderful to get to laugh and get to know each other while we worked!
What a great work party! We painted all 6 sides of over 1,200 blocks for the block painting for Ribfest. Block Painting was a really successful event in the Kid's Zone the last two years and so the blocks were covered in artwork. We painted them over with a white paint so that now we can wash off the blocks after each season and have fresh ones to work from. We will set up another work party to finish the last of the blocks.
The Interactors will be running the "Human Foosball Game" and so we figured out how to build it. It will take a ball,12 tables, 100' feet of netting, a wad of 6' plant stakes, some tent pegs and lots of crazy people. The goal is to have a tot game and a teen game set up.
The Interactor showed us their creative art skills when they designed Ribfest Youth Characters for YAIL, RYLA, Interactors and RIYA. These characters will be turned into choroplast cut-outs where kids can place their heads in the face holes and have their pictures taken.
Vida designed and outlined a cartoon art colouring table cover for kid's to colour in the family beer garden. Molly joined in on the creative scene.
It was a hot, but wonderfully successful day, topped off with Danne Dunlop's bar-b-q complete with Kerry's amazing cupcakes and lots of cool drink. We went home tired but happy!
