Operation red nose is expanding this year.
This year, we're very excited to be expanding the service into Burnaby and
New Westminster. These two cities were always very difficult for us and we
never felt right about not being able to provide rides too deep into and out
of these areas. From now on, we'll be able to provide the full service.
Now, the only municipality in the Lower Mainland without the service is
Vancouver and hopefully they will come on board in the near future.
So, we're starting the planning process for the 2012 campaign and are
looking to make it bigger and better. We're hoping you'll tell your friends,
co-workers, etc about the program and encourage them to both use it and to
volunteer. We're also looking for people to get involved with our
organizing group. Please let me know if you might be interested in helping
out with:
* Communications and promotions - graphic design, media, events, etc
(we may even need a second mascot),
* Volunteer recruitment - especially in Burnaby and New West
* Volunteer coordination for New West and Burnaby (thankfully
Malcolm's sticking with us for the Tri Cities)
* Sponsorship, (we need lots of help here)
* Facebook and Twitter - helping us get the word out, etc,
* Creating a website - better information, promotion and recognition
for sponsors,
* Food coordination - liaising with our food sponsors, making sure the
food gets to the headquarters,
* Helping Mitch with the cell phone collection and coordination,
* Dispatching during the campaign
* Etc.
There are lots of things to go around and we'd love to get you a little more
involved.
Lastly, we have two golf tournaments coming up that we're providing a safe
ride home service for. They're both up at the Westwood Plateau Golf Course:
Wednesday, June 13, Tri-Cities Chamber of Commerce tournament
Monday, July 9, Coquitlam Classic tournament
In both cases, we are looking for volunteers to drive from 8:00pm-10:00pm.
We'll meet inside the ballroom on the second floor of the clubhouse. I'll
be at the back of the room.
Thanks again for your past support. Please let me know if you're interested
in the golf tournaments and/or getting a little more involved as part of our
organizing committee. There's a lot of potential here. We hope you'll be
able to help us realize it!
