Hi Bill!
So sorry for the late reply! We are still glowing from the event!

First off, thank you for hosting Ribfest and giving us the opportunity to help out! It was ran very well, and we can't wait to be back for next summer! It's not just coming from me. I'm hearing it from all our scouts who went, and from the volunteers that we met at the event! Thanks for bringing together so many dedicated volunteers from the community, and managing us so well!

We are so happy to hear that the event recycled 20% more this year!! This must have been because you managed your team so well! ðŸ˜‰ Thank you again for a wonderful weekend!

This is what was recycled.:
We are very proud of our past recycling efforts for the big event at Rocky Point Park and we were again committed to this important initiative and element of the event in 2017!  Below are some highlights from this year's event:

Organic Recycling
  • We filled and tipped 194 wheeled 240 L green waste carts - that's as much as 46,560 L of green waste!  This is an increase from 2016 as we filled 160 carts last year!
  • 5,000 KG or 11,000 pounds of organic waste was diverted from landfills into compost at RibFest this past!

We also processed Mixed Single Stream RecyclingCardboard RecyclingPark Garbage, and Ribber's Garbage in addition to:

Plastic Outer Wraps and Bags
  • All 4 stations had large clear plastic bags we used to collect any and all plastic outer wraps and the bags were taken to the Encorp Return It Depot each day for handling.
Recyclable Bottles and Cans
  • All 4 stations also had large clear plastic bags where we collected all the plastic bottles, Aluminum cans, etc, and consolidated them for daily pick up by a recycling company we contracted.

It's a great event for the community and for all the clubs involved. And by the way, I think the organization of the event was good last year and better this year.
And I was also very impressed by the music this year. George did a great job!
