We had many people away today, and I'm sure it was 'not' because our President Alan announced that we would have a Club Assembly meeting. !!!!

Our meetings are always lively and today was no exception.  Our Club's  Rotary International Foundation Chair, PP Gayle presented two Paul Harris Fellows today to 2 more very dedicated Rotarians.  Cleone received a PH +1 and Pres. Alan received a PH +2.  Well done !!!!
Gayle also stated that our Club has promised $6,000.00 to RI this year and we are well on our way to that total.

We only had one guest this week, but what an amazing Rotarian he is.  Bob Jones came to visit our Club from the Steveston Club.  He has 34 years of Perfect Attendance, was a Charter Member of the Steveston Club and the reason he is visiting Port Moody is because his daughter [a past Youth Exchange student from years ago] has come home to celebrate Bob & his wife's 57th Wedding Anniversary.  So nice to have him visit again.

Cleone reported on her Random Act of Kindness and she had $36.25 to give away in one way or another.  She went to see the Celebration of Light in Vancouver and saw a man in Macdonalds that was in 'need' so she gave him $20.00, with the balance of the money she gave flowers to a person in her complex that is volunteering.  Good job Cleone !!!!  next week we will hear from Julia !!!

We had no birthdays or anniversaries this week, BUT we did have 2 Club Anniversaries.
Mike - 1 year and Patty 9 years with our Club.

PP Al was our Sgt. at arms today and he had no problem asking our Guest Rotarian Bob for money....the Rotary 'handshake' as it is often referred to !!!

Al talked about his International Service Committee and couldn't thank Isy enough for all the work she has done over the last many many years.  Isy is still going to be 'on the committee' but has passed the baton to Al.  He told us of all the many projects that we have done and Pres. Alan said we should be VERY PROUD of the work we do Internationally.

Treasurer Mike talked about the finances in our Club.  He has only been a Club member for 1 year AND he has been our Treasurer for 8 months.  He found out very quickly that being Treasurer is more than just taking the money to the bank once a week and writing a few cheques.....and he is doing a FANTASTIC job.  We are in good standing.....

Julia - Community Service talked about all the Community activities that we are involved with and is going to have a meeting to listen to ideas of what we should continue to do and what we should 'add'.  She will be sending out an email....please get involved with your ideas.

Gaetan - Club Service talked about BIG shoes to be filled with Ron not doing the 'cashiers' rotation any longer.  If you would like to help, please let him know.  Gaetan thanked the whole club for all that is done 'behind' the scenes.

Gary talked about make - ups and how important it is that you let him know via email that you have made up a meeting.

and finally I gave the challenge as Membership Chair for the month of August, to wear your Rotary pin every where, every day.....to Bring a guest to Rotary this month and to 'share' on Facebook anything that you see about Rotary.  BE PROUD that your are a ROTARIAN...!!!!

Great meeting....we missed everyone who wasn't there and next week is a very special meeting as Lucie will be doing her Classification Talk.

See you then.
