Just us again at the meeting and it is kind of nice to be able to visit and hear all the Happy Dollar stories.  Well done Sgt. At Arms, Darrell.

Congratulations to Brian Wormald for his outstanding contribution to Rotary and to Belize school Global Grant project.
Brian donated $3500.00 to support a school in Belize.  This is such a wonderful donation and along with the Global Grant we will be able to support a school with chrome books, school supplies and teaching staff for these children.
Brian received his Paul Harris + 3 along with a certificate....... and so very well deserved

Brian is passionate about our International support for Belize.  He went on a trip to Belize to help with the Prison.  This changed Brian's life and like we say in Rotary.....He 'became a Rotarian' while he was on that trip.  He saw the difference that is made by our Rotary Club and others.

And speaking of school supplies, please pick up some supplies like backpacks, notebooks, pens, pencils, crayons, etc and bring to Brian at Rotary.  If you don't want to shop, I'm sure if you donated $20.00 or some amount, he would gladly shop for you.  Thanks for your help with this.  The children in Belize will be very happy and grateful.
Belize trip coming up soon and Al & Glen packing tablets to go in the container for the schools.

Lots going on in the life of our Rotary Club.

Great job Rick and thank you again for all of your work in planning and organizing this exciting and fun event.  It was such a successful turnout and surprisingly, the water didn’t feel near as cold as we all thought it was going to be.
Also a big shout out and Thank You to Clayton for another year of fun Hawaiian costumes and helping with the set up.  Many thanks and gratitude also goes out to all the donors, supporters, and club members for making this such a successful day for such an important cause.

RIPS was a HUGE success.  Thank you to Cleone and Bob and Gayle Carter for their passionate involvement.

2,000 Liters of Invasives were Rotary RIPPED !!!

62 volunteers ripped out over 2,000 litres of invasive ivy and blackberry plants in Bert Flinn Park at Rotary RIPS on Sunday!

A highlight was watching 4 cub scouts showing volunteers from Camp Sasamat pieces of ivy and enthusiastically explaining that the ivy not only can strangle trees but that it can carpet large areas of the forest and not let the plants that should be there grow. This is serious because animals need the native plants for food. I was impressed how they understood the importance of biodiversity.

This was a role reversal for the Camp Sasamat team. 4 staff came with 22 high school students who are on a leadership training course. Some of them will develop into camp counsellors and guide younger children.

Innvervisions, a drug and alcohol recovery centre sent out 18 men who gave back to the community by pulling a huge share of the introduced plants.

A senior from Gleneagle school, a couple of girl guides, some parents, 5 Rotarians and best of all Sarah Livingston from the City made up the rest of the team.

Bob and Gayle Carter, recipients of the Environmental Award for the City helped create Bert Flinn Park, are passionate about protecting it and were leaders on this event.

Rotary RIPS (Removes Invasive Plant Species) is a partnership program between the City of Port Moody, Port Moody Ecological Society and Rotary to help protect environment.
