Today's meeting was excellent.  To begin with PP Jon presented a VERY WELL DESERVED PAUL HARRIS award to PP GAYLE CARTER... Jon listed all of the activities that Gayle has been involved with over the years and Gayle is now a Paul Harris Plus 3......Well done !!!!!

Also today our newest member announced that he delivered and served Pies at our Eagle Ridge Manor Pie Day.  This is so wonderful that Bernie Hiller has 'jumped' in already to help the club.

Julia announced that the Christmas in July was very successful, we collected 89 boxes of food for 4,103lb and collected $117l.00 in donations.  Outstanding and thank you to everyone who helped.

Mayor Mike Clay was at our meeting this morning reminding us that the Terry Fox Run is September 14 and that our Rotary Club always 'mans' the Registration Table.  Please mark that date on the calendar and let Julia know if you can help.

Greg Garrison from the Coquitlam Sunrise Club came to ask for our help with their Rotary Fall Classic Golf Tournament.  This year the price is only $150.00 so if you would like to golf, or volunteer, please let him know or go on the website: www.rotaryfallclassic.ca.  The date is September 11th.

Our Guests today were:  Jennifer McKinnon and Greg Garrison from the Coquitlam Sunrise Club
Nicki Caulfield from the City of Coquitlam, Tom Babbs, Mayor Mike Clay and Dr. John Higenbottam

We had a Membership meeting on July 28th and a few items were discussed......We are going to have a PARTY !!!!.....An Anniversary Party for our Club and all the past members.  We are looking forward to 're-connecting' with people who were once members of our Club and of course celebrate our 15 years as a Rotary Club.  Will be great to 'catch up'. We will keep you posted so you can 'save the date'.

Today we also started the Random Acts of Kindness and I passed around a change purse for members to put in a small amount of change.  With this change we ask that sometime during the week, you do a Random Act of Kindness with the money that was collected.  Some weeks there will be $5.00, some weeks many $20.00, but whatever is there, the person who takes the purse, does a RAK...... ;o)  This week Cleone took the purse and we will be anxious to hear her story.  Also in the purse is a Rotary Coin, that you will give to that person.

Dr. John Higenbottam gave his talk today on Coquitlam's vision of the Riverview Lands.  It was very informative and enlightening......
