The gift bags were a big success and the guys really liked their handmade touques  made by Jackie LAWRIE.

What a wonderful TriCity Rotary Breakfast at the Boathouse in Port Moody.

We had Paul as our MC and Richard Stewart played a couple Christmas songs while we all sang.(if you could call it singing)
In total we had 58 Rotarians and friend(family) in attendance.
Each President gave a short talk on the projects they are involved in.
The food was great and George and Yolanda won the funniest Christmas Sweaters. Imagine George as a Christmas Tree.
It was excellent to find out just how busy all our clubs are.

Everyone knows what to do:  Go to the Port Moody Liquor Store at 2929 St. Johns and tell them you would like your purchase to go to Port Moody Rotary Club.  Please make sure you check that they have done that.  We have collected a lot of money from you doing just that.  Keep up the good work and let's see what the total will be at the end of the year.
AND when that is done, please take your bottles to 'Return It' and put the account number

What is the Goal of Rotary Foundation Grants? (Part 1 of 2)

During the past 100 years, the Foundation has spent over $3 billion on life-changing, sustainable projects. With your help, we can make lives better in your community and around the world. The Rotary Foundation impacts communities through our grants program, which offers four opportunities for funding. Let’s look at the first two grant options:

District Grants – fund small-scale, short-term activities that address needs in your community and communities abroad. Each district chooses which activities it will fund with these grants.  How it works: Districts may use up to 50 percent of their District Designated Fund, based on the amount of DDF generated from a District’s Annual Fund giving three years prior, including Endowment Fund earnings.

Global Grants – fund large-scale international activities with sustainable and measurable results that support Rotary’s areas of focus. Activities include humanitarian projects, scholarships and vocational training teams.  How it works: Global grants have a minimum budget of $30,000 and a maximum World Fund award of $400,000. Grant sponsors can use a combination of District Designated Funds (DDF), cash, and/or directed gifts and endowment earnings to fund a global grant. The Foundation will provide an 80 percent World Fund match for all DDF contributions. There is no minimum World Fund match.

Learn about our other two grant opportunities next week!

A few months back, John Quinn spoke to our Club about his life and the book he wrote called :  'Someone Like Me'.  John's book is being re-released on Amazon this week....A great read.
Ian set this up and because it was zoom, John did not get our Spike.  We thought it would be fun to take him one.  John was 'over the moon'.
