President Elect Paul presented President Coreen with her PH+3 pin ....Congratulations

President Coreen gave Danne a Certificate of Appreciation for all the quiet work that he does for our Rotary Club.  Danne does 'Pie Day' for the Manor, once a month, and the Manors residents love it.
Danne always seems to have his 'truck' available for any hauling we need done.  He is the first to volunteer for Innervisions BBQ and Chili lunch and always there to help at Shred-a-Thon, Search for the Perfect Pint and RIBFEST.  Very well deserved Danne.

Guest speaker - Vicky Waldrew - Construction Industry ReHab Plan
Vicky is very passionate about her career in the Construction Industry
The statistics that she gave us about Substance use and risks of overdose in that industry is mind boggling.
Thank you for this very informative talk.

Thank you Darrell for taking the photos.....much appreciated.

Rotary Voices – A Rotaractor’s Story Leaving Ukraine

As Rotaract representative Iryna Bushmina was in the car en route to Vienna from her home country of Ukraine, she had the idea to mobilize ERIC - Rotaract Europe

Now her team of about 150 workers are working in four directions to provide aid to cities within Ukraine by:

  • Distributing truthful information about the situation in Ukraine.
  • Finding accommodations and hosts for Ukrainians in flight.
  • Sending humanitarian aid.
  • Securing financial support for those who need it.

Bushmina shares her experience here https://on.rotary.org/3JjFRiW

The Rotary Club of Port Moody's Little Lending Library was created by Walter Peachey.  We will be forever grateful for this Little Library and all the Love that Walter and Terry put into building it.

Walter set down his power tools and put away his skis for the last time on March 15, 2022, at age 76. He is survived by his wife and best friend, Terry, and their sons, Brent (JoAnn) and Ryan (Rebecca).
Walter studied physics at UBC, where he met Terry, a future teacher. Once married, they led an adventurous life in the outdoors and raised a family of backpackers, hikers and skiers. He shared lifelong connections with fellow hikers, skiers and paddlers from the Varsity Outdoor Club at UBC. His love of the outdoors led him to be an early member, #23, of Mountain Equipment Co-op, for which he volunteered and served as a two-term director.
Walter worked as a cabinetmaker and carpenter in the millwork industry and for School District 42. He loved sharing his passion for creating extraordinary furniture and cabinetry. He taught night school for 35 years and, after retirement, volunteered in the wood shop at Dr. Charles Best Secondary.
Terry and Walter have travelled the world with friends, their children and on their own. They visited over 50 countries, exploring, hiking, scuba diving and soaking up interesting cultures. An avid journalist and photographer, Walter has left reminders of these great adventures.
Our family is grateful for the exceptional kindness of friends and neighbours, the First Responders and Eagle Ridge Hospital staff. If you wish, a donation to Prostate Cancer Research or Eagle Ridge Hospital would be appreciated.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, April 29, at 1:30 at the Vancouver Golf Club, 771 Austin Avenue, Coquitlam. (covid precautions; club dress code)
