ROTARY INTERNATIONAL STATEMENT ON THE CONFLICT IN UKRAINE

We are living in tragic and painful times for the people of Ukraine and the world.

At Rotary, we are deeply concerned about the deteriorating situation in Ukraine, the increasing loss of life, and the humanitarian hardship there. Continued military action against Ukraine will not only devastate the region, but could extend its tragic consequences to all of Europe and the world.

As one of the largest humanitarian organizations in the world, we have made peace the cornerstone of our global mission. We join the international community in calling for an immediate ceasefire, the withdrawal of Russian troops and the restoration of diplomatic efforts to resolve this conflict through dialogue.

Over the past decade, Rotary clubs in Ukraine, Russia, and other neighboring countries have transcended national differences and been actively involved in peacebuilding projects to promote goodwill and win help for victims of war and violence. Today, our thoughts are with our fellow Rotarians and the others in Ukraine who are facing these tragic events. Rotary International will do everything in its power to bring aid, support, and peace to the region.

ROTARY FOUNDATION REPORT

Your Foundation Moment for the Week, as provided by the Zone 28 Regional Foundation Team. Many clubs use this as an article in their weekly club bulletin or as a Rotary Moment at their club meetings. This is a simple and effective practice to keep our fellow Rotarians informed and educated about our Rotary Foundation.

Thank you in advance for sharing with your club members.

How can You help Ukraine?

In response to the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine, The Rotary Foundation has made available the Disaster Response Fund as the main avenue for contributions.

All Donations made online at Disaster Response Fund – My Rotary, Including the use of available district designated funds (DDF), need to be received by April 30, 2022. Grant applications to take advantage of the funds will be available now through June 30, 2022. This will be the main avenue for Rotary Foundation Support, but Rotary and Rotaract Clubs are also encouraged to create their own responses to the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine.

In addition to the support provided through the Disaster Response Fund, The Rotary Foundation is coordinating with partners and regional leaders, exploring effective solutions to the increased humanitarian needs. You will find a comprehensive list of projects at this link, with the contact details and websites.

Thank you for all that you do to promote peace.
