Crossroads Hospice Society is participating in the 10th Annual Hike for Hospice on Sunday, May 6, 2012. Hikers, walkers and ramblers are all invited to join in with participants all across Canada. This family-friendly local event raises funds to support people living with a terminal illness, as well as their friends and families. All funds raised in the Tri-Cities will remain here in the Tri-Cities to help Crossroads as they provide compassionate care to those facing the end of life experience. It’s pledge-based event, and you can download your pledge form online.

Hike for Hospice is held in two Tri-Cities locations – one in Port Coquitlam and the other in Port Moody. Hikers can choose the five kilometer route that suits their fancy. The Port Coquitlam route starts at Hyde Creek Recreation Centre and follows the Traboulay Trail. The Port Moody route begins at Port Moody City Hall and follows the Shoreline Trail. Registration for both hikes begins at 9:00am, and the hikes themselves kick off at 10:00am. The event continues until noon, so there’s plenty of time for you (and your kids) to wander your way to the finish line.

To register online for Hike for Hospice visit the National Hike for Hospice site. For more information about the local event email Crossroads Hospice Society at info@crossroadshospice.bc.ca.

Businesses are invited to become involved by sponsoring this local event. To find out more about the benefits of doing so, and how you can make it happen, contact Anna Wilczewsk at 604.945.0606 oranna.wilczewsk@crossroadshospice.bc.ca.

As if supporting a great local organization wasn’t enough, there are also prizes for participating businesses, as well as family teams and individuals. So round up your family and friends, lace up your walking shoes, and get ready to do some hiking!
