EKE!!!!! Your kidding me !!!!...... sounds like a great meeting, but read on....

Quite a morning!

President Al had encouraged us to do our best to attend the meeting as DG Sean Hogan, & his wife Carole, had planned a visit to our club.

It was nice to hear Sean give our club kudos for being so active.

After an inspiring presentation Sean went on to outline the exciting plans for the District Conference next year in Vancouver. He laid out such an appealing event that it seems we would be crazy not to be there. With city tours, dining at the Aquarium, a flash mob dancing routine, lots of great workshops and study groups all climaxing with the Governor's ball…it will be a must.

He spoke of his affinity for youth programs and it was easy to see his passion as his eyes always included the eight, young visitors that sat off to his right, attentive to his every word. Megan Staub, former president of the Kelowna Rotaract Club, and fresh off a night shift at Eagleridge emergency ward, was there to give them support..

A week ago, Patty hosted am amazing group of young people at her home, led by a vivacious lady called Kimberley. They were thirteen, committed youth intent on forming a Rotaract Club in Port Moody and were looking for guidance in chartering a club! They already have a history of community service and are making a difference in our community. Before leaving, they were invited to come to our breakfast meeting.

What better way to ensure the continuation of the Rotary movement than by attracting, mentoring and supporting a motivated group of young people that are keen enough to come to a 7AM meeting in a pub.

Rotaract is a Rotary-sponsored service club for young men and women ages 18 to 30. The clubs are either community or university based, and they’re sponsored by a local Rotary club. This would make them true "partners in service" and key members  of our Rotary family so let's help them do this!

Give a hand for Isy and Ron who received recognition for their outstanding work in our club. And it was great to see Terry Becker of the Meadowridge Club at our breakfast.

I wonder if the meeting would have gone on as long if the women members had noticed the mouse running back and forth by the bar!
