Sean asked who has influenced us?

By meeting these influential individuals, we have changed for the better.

Sean asked who have you influenced in your life.

How have they bettered the lives of those that have met us through our influence?

Power of International

The benefits of a few individuals in Rotary help to create the many International projects that we have today.

Our club touches the lives of many people around the world that we will never meet through all the work we do internationally.

Africa:  How we help the young children who may have been orphaned due to their parents passing away from aids.

This country has received a lot of funding through the supplies that have been shipped by the Rotary World Help Network.

The many computers, educational supplies and medical equipment they have received have helped to change their lives.

Think of how better off the World is today because of Rotary.  We are there to help and make the world a better place.

Sean also talked about his participation in RYLA and shared information on how the youth who have attended have changed after being in this program for only 4 days.

Sean advised that his goals for District 50/50 are:

  1. Membership, we need to be better with retaining our new and existing members
  2. New Generations
  3. Foundation/Polio Plus.  We have low administration costs for the foundation and we need to continue with Polio Plus.  Only 177 cases this year and it will still take several years for fund raising for Polio Plus to ensure the eradication is complete.  Our district is ranked number 5 in the world for fund raising for Polio Plus.
  4. Public Relations/Image. We need to share our story more and need to get better with using Social Media.

In closing, Sean talked about the District Conference which will be held in Vancouver next year from May 30th to June 1 2013. There are lots of events planned and there will be a BIG CAMPAIGN created for Rotary Awareness including having a Flash Mob Dance.  It will be a great way to become a tourist in your own community and fun will be had by all who attend.
