“You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream” CS Lewis

Came to Canada from Korea 11 years ago. Parent’s told her she was a woman and too young and that she should stay home and raise a family.  After much pleading she was sent to her aunt’s in Colorado Springs for a month. Here she met bears and deer and even though it was not what she anticipated she lied to her parent’s and said it was great. Eventually she studied physical education and elementary education in Edmonton. She also studied applied therapy and massage and  worked with the men’s hockey team in Canmore. She described how big the muscles the men had and how hard she had to work with her elbows to help them!  She went back to Edmonton and got her teaching certificate.

She found learning English very challenging. Given her Korean culture she found it very difficult when she failed an English class and became depressed. Asians don’t share their weaknesses and had to learn to overcome that and ask for help.

She is an active volunteer in: Director of Korean Education Foundation, New Visions, Rose of Sharon, Toast Master, Rotary and School District 43 Trustee. She has a map in her home that she puts up post it notes when concerns about the school district are brought to her attention. The reason that she misses Rotary meeting is that she is up until 2 am quite often after her school board meetings the night before. School is very different in Korea where there are 40 children in the class and they learn by rote. She initially thought university students here were very rude when they asked a question in class.

She enjoys drawing and art.

Cheque Presentation to Mossom Creek

Cheque for 20,932.74 was presented to Mossom Creek. 10,000 from our club the rest was from Rotary matching grant.

The hatchery is now fully operational. The building can also hold meeting.

Come to the Open House on May 23, from 10am-4pm

The goal is to raise citizens that understand nature and inspire them to be stewards of nature.
