People were also very generous with their contributions to Share Food Bank as cash donations raised by our hot chocolate
Despite the unusually bitter cold a large turnout greeted the train on Friday evening and our Rotary Club played an integral part. A cup of hot chocolate was a popular choice among the audience and we served at least 600/800 cups. People were also very generous with their contributions to Share Food Bank as cash donations raised by our hot chocolate giveaway amounted to $812.26 vs $359.50 last year and $550.85 in 2006. Even though only 8 of the 17 members who had signed up came out (probably due to the cold) we managed okay and I'd like to thank them all for their commitment and help. In addition I'd like to thank Thrifty Foods for their three spanking new 100 cup urns, Starbucks for their water carriers and supply of hot water, St James Well Pub for their hot chocolate mix and the City of Port Moody for arranging for and supplying the tents. This is a great community event for our club to participate in for a very good cause. Dan Gallant
