......until the Rotary Club of Port Moody showed up at Miller Avenue House.
CHILI LUNCH AT INNERVISIONS Just another normal day at Innervisions??... until the Rotary Club of Port Moody showed up at Miller Avenue House. Thank you to Steve Gable who picked up the 'donated' groceries from Thriftys Foods The choppers were Ed Nadort from the Sunrise Club, Jim McGrandles, Gayle Carter & Ann Hulbert. Jon Dominy 'stirred' so much that he ended up with a 'blister' on his hand and Terry Peachey who made the dining room look very 'festive'. We noticed very early on that the 'ice cream' was left at Thrifty's, so rather than driving all the way back there, Steve the 'asking machine' drove to Safeway and got ice cream and pies donated for dessert. We all arrived around 10:00 and after all the chopping and stirring 12:30 came and 25 men and staff came up the stairs, very excited to the smells of a real 'home cooked' meal [by someone 'else'] I don't think I've heard that many 'thank you's and ROTARY ROCKS before. All the men had at least 2 helpings and the desserts with chocolates and candy canes were a big hit. The men were all very grateful and as Rotarians, I think we all went home with a good feeling that we had once again done something wonderful for Christmas and for these men who are changing their lives ONE DAY AT A TIME. Thank you also to Envision Financial for their donation of $100.00 for this very worthwhile cause. Hugs to all Linda ;o)
