The students enjoyed sunshine for the entire week.....
The Rotary Club of Port Moody and the Coquitlam Noon Club joined forces this past week to send 62 lucky young students from District 43 to Camp Jubilee for one week of sun, fun and adventure. Ten students from Alderson Elementary in Coquitlam and 52 students from Seaview Community and Moody Elementary schools in Port Moody set sail on Monday 14th July for the camp which is located just north of Deep Cove just up Indian Arm. The students enjoyed sunshine for the entire week and participated in a great number of activities including canoeing, kayaking, low ropes, archery and swimming. In addition the energetic group of camp counsellors had some very inventive games up their sleeves which kept the children captivated all week. Several Rotarians stayed at camp and joined in the fun and games with the students. This is the third year that the Rotary Club of Port Moody has sent local students to camp and we hope that we will be able to continue the tradition in the years to come. Port Moody Rotary would like to thank the many people who donated money to send the kids to camp. In particular we owe a huge debt of gratitude to the Port Moody Police who opened their hearts and their cheque book to donate enough money to send 12 students to the camp. This is the second year they have given our fundraising such a huge boost and we are extremely grateful to them. Next year we hope to send 100 children to camp and fill the camp for one week.
