The CEO of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Jeff Raikes, attended the International Assembly to make an announcement. Rotary was challenged to raise $200m as part of the matching grant from the foundation and we achieved that milestone ahead of time. As a reward for the early achievement, the Foundation awarded a further $50m without the need to match! Well done to all Rotarians and thanks to the Foundation.

Please note that the District Assembly is scheduled for April 14th. This is a very worthwhile event especially for the newer members. There are breakout sessions where you can learn about Rotary and ask all the questions you like.
This week we will be inducting Joye MacPherson as a new member. Please come out and welcome her into the club. Joye and her husband attended our container packing event last week and it is clear that Joye has the energy and required to be a great Rotarian.
Remember to buy your tickets for the Pub night on Feb 28th. $20 will get you a beer, a burger and the Canucks game will be on the telly.
