Last week we had Billy Weselowski from Innervisions as our guest speaker.  It is always a treat to hear him speak. They are busy expanding and upgrading their house in Maple Ridge and our club decided to make a donation of $2000 to Hannah House to furnish a room.  We are proud to support Innervisions as they serve our community in an area that is really essential.  Billy has also invited us to put up a plaque in their new living room which we will share with Coquitlam Sunrise and Maple Ridge.

We agreed at our board meeting yesterday to offer to host a Rotary Friendship Exchange team from District 1870 in Germany.  There are 10 to 12 of them and they will be arriving May 22nd.  As soon as I have more information, I’ll let you know. If anyone is interested in hosting, please let me know. Thanks to Darrell and Krista who have already offered to host.

As Dan Gallant pointed out last week, we don’t get much coverage for the work we do in eradicating polio but it was heartening to see the newsflashes over the last few days mentioning the fact that India is now polio-free.  There is much to do but I get a sense that we are beginning to win this battle!

Al Stjernegaard and Nick Stebbing are registered and will be representing us at the RI conference in Bangkok May 6th to 9th. I am sure it will be a memorable trip and I look forward to hearing about it when they get back.

We are sending a container to South Africa in a few weeks and we are packing the container on January 28th.  Please diarise this date and come out to help. It is great fellowship and a good workout. It is always surprising how much stuff they get into the container.  There will be help from the other clubs but the host club is responsible to provide the bulk of the labour force, so remember

Many hands make light work!
