We certainly can't complain about the weather, can we?  I just hope it holds until Wednesday because we have DG Jane Helten visiting this week.  Please come out and let's give Jane a warm Port Moody welcome.  I am told that Jane has a great presentation, so bring your friends.

Al Stjernegaard and I attended the RLI event this weekend at the Kwantlen Polytech.  Once again, a very well run event thanks to Gary Wiggins and his ever helpful wife, Hazel. Both Al and I have now completed this three-part course and recommend it very highly.  At the end of the day, our group discussed the course and the value and everyone agreed that it was very valuable.  I would encourage any new member, i.e. anyone who has been in Rotary for five years or less to attend this and learn about the available resources, meet new friends and gain a lot of new knowledge.  Besides, the club will reimburse your tuition costs!  Sounds like a smoking deal to me.  The next event is on November 19th and don't delay registering or else you will be disappointed because they fill up quickly. Just in case you think this is for new members only, we had an AG on the course with us and she enjoyed it a lot too!

Please mark your calendars - Eagle Ridge Manor Christmas decorations is on Saturday, November 19th and the Manor Christmas Party is on Sunday, December 18th.  Details will be forthcoming from Cleone.

Thanks to Steve Gable for the suggestion to have the flag of the exchange student present at our meetings.  This is a great idea and will make our exchange students feel even more welcome. Also, thanks to Al Stjernegaard who has offered to purchase and donate the Danish flag in honour of Henriette.

Please remember that World Polio day is next Monday, October 21st.  I have made my "this close" ad but it doesn't look nearly as professional as the others. I'll have to improve on it but in the mean time have a look at it and see if you can do better. http://www.thisclose.net/gallery.php?show=4440

Have a wonderful week and remember,

Many hands make light work!
