October is Vocational Service month.  I recently attended a course at the Rotary Leadership Institute and learned that the line of service is actually "Ethics and Vocational Service".  I had never heard about the ethics component before, so I thought I would share that with you.  This is an opportunity for us to reflect on ways to apply our professional skills and high ethical standards to serve others.

Rotarians are gearing up for World Polio Day on October 24th. We are "this close".  Please visit www.thiscose.net and create your own "this close" ad. I haven't done it yet but will do so this week.

Please mark your diaries and attend next week's club meeting - October 19th.  Our DG Jane Helten will be attending and we would like to show her a real Port Moody welcome.  As you know, she had serious back troubles and is on the mend but I suspect that she is still in some discomfort, so let's make it worth her while and get everyone out.

I am looking forward to this weekends RLI at Kwantlen Polytech in Surrey.  In a previous bulletin I said it was in Langley but that is incorrect, it is in Surrey.

I see that Pre-PETS is coming up on Oct 29th!  Go Al!

On a sad note, the South African rugby team were knocked out of the quarter finals of the rugby world cup. They completely dominated the game against Australia winning absolutely everything you would care to measure except of course, the most important measure, the final score.  There is a lesson in here somewhere, I suppose.  We have to keep our eye on the prize and be committed until polio is completely eradicated.

I hope you had a wonderful Canadian Thanksgiving weekend, and remember...

Many hands make light work!
