I attended the Rotary Leadership Institute course last weekend in Mt Vernon. I decided to leave on the Saturday morning at 5am and got there by 6:30am. I thoroughly enjoyed the day and it was well organized by Gary Wiggins ably supported by Hazel. The next event is at the Kwantlen College, Langley on October 15th. A few of our members have told me that they will be joining me and I look forward to another good day. If anyone else is thinking of going, please let me know. The club will reimburse your tuition fee.
We had a zone meeting today with the presidents from 5 clubs represented. We had a nice lunch and discussed a few opportunities to work together. One of the events we would like to organize as a Tri-Cities event, is a speaker event in a large auditorium setting like Red Robinson theatre to promote membership. We could potentially pack 1500 people in if we have the right speaker. If we sold tickets at a reasonable price, say $5 to $10 it should be possible to generate a large number of people who may be interested in hearing about Rotary. Let me know what you think.
The Rotary Club of Port Coquitlam Centennial, is hosting a “Know India” event on October 15th. It looks like a fun event with Indian food and a Bollywood theme. It starts at 6pm and tickets are $40 per head.
Coquitlam Sunrise is hosting a hockey event at Coquitlam Express on Oct 14th at 7pm. The goal is to have a fun evening with fellow Rotarians and to help support the local hockey team. It is also a fund raiser for Coquitlam Sunrise. Tickets are $10 which is the normal gate price but $5 is going to Rotary.
It is clear that Rotary in the Tri-Cities is on fire!
Remember, many hands make light work.
