Boring? not a chance at the Rotary Club of Port Moody. We had our AGM and it was full of life and fun. President Mike did an outstanding job going over the highlights of our past year and how we can further improve our Rotary Club.
1. Leadership - all styles are different - everyone brings something good
2. Projects - bring up your ideas of new projects....no idea is a bad idea.
3. Membership - the need to keep growing
4. Join the Board - great way to keep involved and to put forth your ideas
5. Mentor and coach New Members
We are in good fiscal shape due to the fantastic fundraisers we hold each year.....Search for the Perfect Pint, Shred-a-Thon and of course RibFest. Thank you to Coreen and Alan for the report and to Gayle who told us of all the Community Grants we gave out to 'spend' all that money we raised.
Nice to see Al back after his surgery and we all got to sing Happy Birthday to him.
We had Ian from the Rotaract Club and visit.....such a great guy.
AND a regular guest will be Darrell's DOMINO.
Port Moody is hosting a Dragon Boat Festival at Rocky Point Park in April 2018. More info to come. We have been asked to organize and work the Beer Garden.
AGM called to order. Minutes of last AGM passed and agenda for this year’s AGM approved.
President Mike began with his important list of 5 things to remember:
- Offer support—we are stronger together.
- Never be afraid to bring possible new projects or events to the group. We are always looking for new opportunities.
- Continue to grow our club membership. We have had a good year bringing new members but still wanting to grow.
- Consider joining the Board—we need new ideas!
- Seasoned members should continue to mentor new members. We have 6 more months in Mike’s term to mentor our new members and bring in more new folks.
