Rotary donates bikes to Seaview Elementry.
On December 18th Christmas came early for 25 students of Seaview Elementary
School. The members of Rotary Club of Port Moody were informed by Brian
Carter of the City of Port Moody that there were 11 unclaimed bicycles in storage
that were available to donate to a good cause. The Rotarians made contact with
the principal of Seaview Elementary School Sheila Plummer and with her
assistance identified 25 children that were in need of a bicycle. Caps Westwood
Cycle owner Glen Hobbis and manager Rhys Pickup tuned up the 11 bicycles
and made sure they were ready for the children.
The Rotarians now needed to find 14 more bikes for the remaining children and
decided to purchase the remaining 14 bicycles. The 25 bikes were delivered to the
school with the help of Williams Moving & Storage and setup in the gym. All the
bicycles had the student's name identifying the bicycles new owner. The children
did not know they were going to be receiving the bicycles. It was to be a big
surprise and the expressions on their faces said it everything once they received
their bicycles. One of the children said that he had never had a bicycle and he
was hoping to get one from Santa for Christmas.
The Rotary Club of Port Moody would like to thank all of those people who
helped make this donation a great success. For more information about The
