WHAT A DAY !!!

The event started with all of you putting up signs and letting everyone you know, that we were having a Shred-a-Thon.  The Dispatch and the Tri-City News promoted for us as well as we were on the City Calendar and on the Electronic Sign on Ioco Road.
Thank you for all your help.

Peter, thank you for putting up the signs you had made for the community and for you and Danne for picking up everything at the 'lock-up' [ PS that is another whole story of who and when can we clean that up ?]

Peter M, thank you for setting up the tablets so we could take Visa & M/C.  We chased around City Hall to keep the WiFi, but we did get some donations that way.

The sun was out and we had a wonderful day for a great event.

Mike came with stand up signs that were perfect....Shred-a-Thon , unload here and library over there..... Thank you Mike.

First thing in the morning, Brian came with donuts, TimBits and coffee for everyone.   May and Lee came with 'home made baked goods' that were enjoyed by all.

Everyone started to arrive at 7:45.....Peter came with the truck full of cones, our tent, tables you name it he had it in the truck.  We were working like little ants putting the cones together and the tents up and then here comes Best Shredding !!!  2 trucks and we are ready to go......Lots of members there and before 9 am when we started we already had over $400.00 from residents who were there 'early'....

Rod from Best Shredding is amazing and so good to us.  Thank you ROD

Thank you to everyone who came, and like always, I hope I don't forget one of you.  Everyone chipped in and it was like clockwork getting the residents in and out as smoothly as possible.

Bill was breaking down the cardboard and had all his line up of recycling bags ready for every kind of trash you can think of. He put in miles carrying the cardboard to the back of City Hall.  We must change that.

Trish is our money girl and can she ever do that job well.  By the hour, bills are all 'heads up' and in order....Fabulous !!!
Cheryl was handing out the cards that had our 50/50 on them with a thank you on the back.  Well done.  Every single car that went through knows about our 50/50 draw.  Gayle and Peter collected the donations from the residents and they have that down to a fine art.  Directly the cars to the lines was John who did a great job and directing traffic to unload was Jim and Frank.
Yvonne took lots of photos, thank you.
The heavy lifters were, Glen, Danne, Alan K, Aziz, Alan S, Neil, Brian, Alistair, Dave, Mae & Lee.
Dan G came by with great news that we will have 2 more new members and Vidacame to say hello.
Brian D came to drop off shredding and other Rotarians and friends were Hugh M was also by along with Preet and Cory.

We cleaned everything up in record time.
Alan K thank you for taking all the 'stuff' back to the lock-up and for picking up the other tent.  Huge help and we are all grateful.
Andy came to help put the 'coin' in rollers.
We capped off the late afternoon with a BBQ at the Balzer's.  Thank you to Georgefor BBQ'ing burgers and to all that came for the 'social'.  It is so good to get together as a group socially and I was thrilled to have you in our home.
So with that said:  'drum roll', we made over $1000.00 over last year. .  Not sure how much came through on tap but we will know shortly.  There will be a few expenses for food and extra truck.
We weight we shredded:

1st truck - 3.76 KG = 8,289.38 pounds of paper
2nd truck - 3.21 KG= 7,076.84 pounds of paper

For a grand total of 15,366.22 pounds of paper.  That's a lot of paper!!!

Thank you to all.  I hope those that have sore backs will be OK..... We have a fantastic Rotary Club who always comes through with so much help and enthusiasm.  I, for one am very grateful.

Well done everyone !!!

Do we want to do again next year?
Hugs to all
