TOPIC: THE RACE TO BUILD A DIGITAL TWIN OF THE REAL WORLD

Short Description:
The technologies that will shape the next phase of digital transformation are now in plain sight, and yet very few people understand exactly what will change or how it might happen. Robert Tercek can help. He shares a uniquely inspiring vision of what is coming next, and he has a vivid and memorable way to explain it to audiences all over the world. In Tercek’s view, we are in the process of building not one but millions of "digital twins”. These are high-fidelity representations of the real world, rendered in minute detail with precise real-time data. These models can consist of a factory or a single product or they can scale up to encompass an entire city or simulate an entire world. This new kind of computer model is made possible by the combination of powerful technologies, including machine learning, cloud computing, 5G networks, augmented reality and sensor networks, working in concert with a vast amount of new data. As Tercek puts it, “It’s a virtual land grab.” The race to build a digital twin is the biggest business opportunity of the century and it applies to nearly every industry from consumer products and packaged goods to manufacturing, heavy industry and the global supply chain, and from entertainment and media and games to health care and transportation and city management.
