The following message fram Maryanne contains all of the details for this week's adventure. Please read carefully and respond as quickly as possible so that the meal can be arranged. We need a minimum of 15 meals for that part of the evening to go ahead. Respond to invitation or email ihierck@gmail.com directly to let us know your plans.
Declines are as importants as acceptance as we are then clear on numbers intending to come.
Date: Thursday Aug 24
Meet up time: 6:15pm
Location: Coast Gravity park, Old Dusty Road approx. 1.7km past Sechelt Landfill
How we will all get there: Meet in parking lot at Independent Foods in Sechelt, by TD bank as there is less traffic there. The road to the park is sometimes steep and on gravel but not a difficult drive up. I would suggest carpooling for those who want to go up in their own vehicle. Alternatively, CGP has a 14 passenger van and has offered to take a group up if your not wanting to drive up in your car. We will need to confirm those who want this option so we can make arrangements.
What to bring: runners, light hiking shoes as we will be walking approx. 1km to get to a variety of trails. Darren has offered to rent bikes however, not sure if this the time and place to do it as we are limited for time.
Dinner option: John from Coastal Catering Chef Services has offered to prepare a meal for our visit. Presently, he provides food at the Park but also is the chef for the Gumboot Garden Restaurant in Roberts Creek so creates very tasty dishes. This will be a limited menu and min meals served make it doable. He has offered fully loaded Tacos, (choice of 3; beef, chicken or vegan), side rice and salad for $15.00. If you’d like an ice cold Corona beer, its an extra $5.00. this meal has to be simple and feasible or there will be no food offered at park for this meeting. John needs to know as soon as possible (Tuesday preferably) so he can get everything prepared for Thursday. So the sooner you respond to our invite the better.
How to pay for dinner or just a beer: Preferred cash but can take credit card payments
What will we do & see at CGP: Darren Hemstreet will take us on a short tour via the park truck & trailer shuttle up the mountain; just like you would if you were about to ride downhill... but we wont be. Darren will also take us to the area where a free community skills park is being planned and proposed. Q & A time then. If time permits and we are lucky, a pro biker or two will provide a demo of what amazing biking tricks skills they have. Should be an action packed evening.
