(Abbotsford, BC) – The Rotary Club of Abbotsford presented five community charities with funding to help support their local programs. A few weeks ago the Abbotsford Hospice received $29,000 for Holmberg House from the club. This has all been possible thanks to the Rotary Club’s very successful Million Dollar Hole-in-One event held this past June.  Fundraising dollars have now been given back to the community with thanks to the many wonderful sponsors, donors, volunteers and participants who support the Hole-in-One event.

The Abbotsford Youth Commission received $1,350 to fund their “The Integrity Project (TIPS)” that provides the opportunity for youth to explore what it means to live with integrity through youth led and youth driven projects.

The Cyrus Center received $3,800 to purchase a new washing machine and dryer for Babich House and 10 x 10 tent to assist them with fundraising and social events.

The Reach Gallery Museum received $2,000 to put toward facilitating a new initiative to develop interactive and fun Arts & Heritage learning kits for children, students, youth and families, including adults with disabilities.

The Raven’s Moon Resource Society received $1,000 to purchase computer peripherals & software to support residents to increase computer skills, access the Internet and create resumes.

The Salvation Army’s Centre of Care received $5,000 to help refurbish water damaged independent units rendered uninhabitable after significant plumbing issues.

Rotary Club President Leslie McConnell said, “on behalf of club members I want to thank everyone involved in making today’s funding opportunities possible and wish to acknowledge the wonderful work all five charities provide to people in our community.” Leslie goes on to say, “it’s amazing what a group of like-minded people can accomplish, so we can give back to Abbotsford and make it a better place.”
