Kids Against Hunger.
Be a part of packing 1 million meals over the past 10 years!

Due to the public health threat of the coronavirus, the Kids Against Hunger food packing event scheduled for Saturday March 14 at the Community House in Winnetka is POSTPONED to a future date to be determined. 

Public health officials are encouraging citizens to avoid public gatherings, particularly those 60+ years old and those with health issues. We want to be a part of the efforts to reduce the spread of the coronavirus, so postponing Saturday’s event is the right thing to do. 

Our hope is to reschedule the event to a date after the coronavirus threat is gone. We will be in touch as those plans develop later this year. 

 

We will have up to 12 tables of 12 volunteers working one of (3) 2 hour shifts. The first shift starts at 8:30 a.m., the 2nd starts at 11 and the 3rd shift starts at 2 ending at 4:00 p.m.

A participant fee of $25 is required of all participants, which will help offset the cost of bulk food, packaging materials and transportation. Participants will also pay a small transaction fee.

Each participant will receive one complimentary raffle ticket (more may be purchased at $20 each/ 6 for $100). Youth groups wishing to participate but finding the fee to be a barrier may ask the Rotary club for help in securing a sponsor for their table. Email info@wnrotary.org with your request.

We will also need "floaters" to help with sign in, moving packing and food materials and other event activities. You can sign up to be a floater as well.

This is a great family event. Children old enough to stay on task with a group for an hour can participate and will enjoy the experience.

We also need to raise funds to pay for these meals. Each meal costs $0.28 for materials, transport and distribution in Nicaragua, so we need to raise nearly $30,000. You can help in several ways:
