Our annual Hope Walk will once again be a Fun 5k Walk in beautiful Gillson Park. It will be on Saturday, May 4, starting at 10am in the Wallace Bowl area of the Park. All proceeds will go to organizations that provide services to the homeless in Evanston, Chicago, and the local area (e.g. Connections for the Homeless, La Casa Norte and Fraternite Notre Dame and others). Registration fee is $30 for one person, $50 for two people, $100 for a Family of 4 or more, and $25 for Students. Dogs are free.
This will be a combined effort by the Rotary Club of Wilmette with assistance from the Rotary Club of Evanston, Evanston Lighthouse and Winnetka/Northfield A pre-determined course will be set on Park grounds. Refreshments will be available.

Cyber-crime and Cyber Warfare

Dick Farkas is a prolfessor of Political Science at DePaul University. He has over fifty years of experience teaching about Russia and Ukraine. He also currently teaches a course about cyber-crime and cyberwarfare, which he will be presenting to our club. Mr, Farkas has expertise in so many areas, it was hard to choose only one. C.A.R.E. Animal Welfare, Rescue and Adoptioin

Community Animal Rescue Effort (C.A.R.E.™) is a volunteer-driven, nonprofit organization with a mission to serve the communities of Chicago's North Shore by fostering and supporting healthy, positive relationships between people and companion animals. C.A.R.E. rehomes companion pets (mostly cats and dogs) into safe, healthy, lifelong homes; serves as an educational and counseling resource; and works to reduce pet overpopulation Lexy Gore joined C.A.R.E. as a volunteer receptionist in 2021. She is now Chair of the Community Outreach committee. In addition to C.A.R.E., She has extensive experience working in international affairs, both in the non-profit and academic sectors. She enjoys yoga, walking outside, travel and time with loved ones. Holly Stevens (President) has been volunteering with C.A.R.E. since 2021. She is a Kennel Captain and is on the Fundraising and Events Committee. She has three dogs, including one C.A.R.E. dog that happened to be the first dog she walked as a volunteer. Holly has over 25 years of experience in fundraising and management, primarily with nonprofit organizations. Under her fundraising leadership for recent work with an international association management firm in Chicago, she helped nonprofit clients strengthen their major gifts program and expand corporate support. As Development Director for the Southeast Region of Canine Companions for Independence, a national organization that provides highly-trained assistance dogs to people with disabilities, she created fundraising strategies that increased fundraising revenue annually by 6%-8%; transformed a Carnegie Library building into an active community cultural center; and served as an arts consultant to performing arts centers in Australia, including the internationally known Sydney Opera House. |
