About the artist:

Ed Coyne is a long time resident of Park Ridge and co-owner of E. J. Coyne & Company Insurance in Park Ridge. He has been a Rotarian since 1989 with the Rotary Club of Park Ridge.

He has been creating art pieces for 20 years and had no formal art training until he took a beginning metal sculpture class at the Evanston Art Center.

His artwork is primarily abstract sculptures (steel, copper and wood). He also paints using acrylics, oils, pastels and spray paints.

Creation of art out of industrial material is his favorite process, involving both the creative design and the engineering to make it work. He enjoys the challenge of taking an abstract idea and bringing it to fruition.

He is not a commercial artist in that he does not create art with the express purpose of selling it.

About Ianelli Studios Heritage Center:

The Ianelli Studios Heritage Center is designed to honor the cultural legacy of Park Ridge and Alfonso Iannelli. Iannelli was a sculptor, artist, and industrial designer who worked from 1910 to 1940.

He worked with Frank Lloyd Wright, designed plaques for the Adler Planetarium, and worked on several projects for the 1933 Century of Progress in Chicago. He also designed the interior of the landmark Pickwick Theater in Park Ridge. His Madonna statue has recently been restored and installed at the Ianelli Studios Heritage Center.
