Polio has been eradicated in the United States for so long, that I never thought I would actually meet someone impacted by the disease.  That was true until today.  I met someone who's father was diagnosed with polio at the age of three.  He passed away recently, but because of the support from groups like Rotary and the March of Dimes, he was able to live a long, full life, into his eighties.  The family was from a farm in nearby Wisconsin,  Our "End Polio Now" dinners, and other Polio fundraising efforts may just keep another family from having to experience this disease on a first hand basis.
