Our speaker and new Club member, Dale Mugler spoke about his life and life's works. He and his wife recently moved to Highland Park from Akron, Ohio to be near their children.

He and his wife retired from teaching/administration at The University of Akron in June, 2015.  At the University, he served as a professor of biomedical engineering for nearly 26 years. He is particularly interested in biomedical signal and image processing. For the last 15 years, he was also Dean of the Honors College.

Dale became interested in Rotary Club many years ago on a flight from Norway back to the U.S. where about half the plane was filled with high school students from other countries coming to the US to study for a year on a Rotary Exchange.  This is a great service from Rotary.

He completed his PhD in mathematics at Northwestern University in 1974. Besides Ohio, he has worked at Syracuse University, at Santa Clara University in Silicon Valley, at NASA centers in California and Ohio, and at the Technical University of Aachen, Germany.  Dale is now working in a startup company based on his research into parallel computation methods for Magnetic Resonance Imaging.

Dale has always enjoyed teaching and enjoys tutoring students, and would love to tutor AP Calculus for students in the area who can’t afford to hire a tutor.
