Last week two grant recipients spoke at our meeting.  Laura Fry from the organization Live4Lali, told us that their mission is reduce stigma and prevent substance use disorder among individuals, families, and communities, and minimize the overall health, legal and social harms associated with substance use.  Our donation of $500 to this group will pay for 500 doses of Naloxone, an easy-to-use, lifesaving antidote to overdose from opioids including heroin, prescription pain medications like Vicodin and oxycodone, and medically assisted treatment options like methadone and buprenorphine. Our donation means that 500 lives may be saved.  Rich Rosen and Joanne Dicker from the Northwest Suburban Interfaith Council explained that their mission is to foster understanding among those of different faiths, encourage cooperative social service efforts, and serve as an ethical and moral voice promoting the positive growth and unity of our community.  Our donation will support their food pantry.
