Last week, we heard from two of our grant recipients, Indian Trails Public Library and The Willow House.   Ryan Uden, Deputy Director of the library, told us about the Summer Lunch Program that the library offered to patrons in conjunction with the Greater Chicagoland Food Depository and with the help of volunteers, including our club members.  Our donation to them last year allowed them to buy two refrigerators needed for the program and this year they will also use those funds to expand the program.  Erin Leyden, the Executive Director of Willow House, explained that this not-for-profit organization has as its mission to develop and provide supportive services for children, teens, families, schools and communities who are coping with grief and the death of a loved one.  Peer support group services are currently provided in four locations, Arlington Heights, Chicago, Libertyville and Bannockburn, including a group for children and families grieving a suicide death and a unique expressive arts group.
