Family Literacy Nights are hosted with District 21 schools to welcome students and their families to ITPLD. Families engage in a variety of activities: signing up for library cards, listening to Storytimes led by teachers from their school, participating in STEAM activities, making crafts, and completing a scavenger hunt. Thanks to generous sponsorship from the Buffalo Grove Rotary and the ITPLD Foundation, students select a free book to take home. These books include titles in English as well as other languages, reflecting the needs of the English Language Learner population at each school.  Rotarians are needed to help staff the book giveaway table and possibly other tasks for the evening.

Join fellow Rotarians from across District 6440 for the 2026 District Conference: Connect, Celebrate, Inspire.

When: Friday, October 2 and Saturday, October 3, 2026
Where: The Westin Chicago Northwest, 400 Park Boulevard, Itasca, IL

The conference opens Friday evening with a networking reception and appetizers, followed by a full day of programming on Saturday: leadership vision, service recognition, club impact showcases, leadership development breakouts, and plenty of fellowship. Our keynote speaker is Richard Kyte, who directs the ethics leadership programs at Viterbo University and writes a weekly column carried by more than 70 newspapers nationwide.

Registration: $99 through September 25. Late registration is $109 through September 30.

Club reimbursement: The Rotary Club of Buffalo Grove has budgeted $500 for District Conference. We will reimburse the $99 registration fee for the first five club members who register, so register early to claim a spot.

Please note: reimbursement covers conference registration only. An overnight stay at the event hotel is available at a group rate of $125 per night (book by September 18), but lodging is not reimbursed.

Join us for Bowling with Buddies, a fun-filled evening for residents with special needs to enjoy bowling, food, and friendship! This annual event, hosted by the Rotary Club of Buffalo Grove in partnership with the Rick Kahen Commission for Residents with Disabilities and Lucky Strike (formerly Bowlero), provides free bowling and dinner for all participants. Parents and chaperones are invited to join for a $10 dinner donation.

This year’s event will take place on Thursday, October 29, from 6–8 p.m. at Lucky Strike (350 McHenry Road, Buffalo Grove). With a Halloween theme and costumes encouraged, it’s sure to be an unforgettable night of community, laughter, and inclusion.
