Adam Helman, Executive Director IMD Guest House
Non-profit providing temporary lodging for medical patients

A Chicago native, Adam Helman serves as executive director of IMD Guest House Foundation, a registered nonprofit that provides temporary lodging to medical patients seeking treatment in Chicago, and their families.  IMD Guest House fills a critical gap in the delivery of advanced medical treatment, which is increasing concentrated in large academic medical centers.  It is the only organization in the Chicago area that is open to patients of any age, receiving any type of treatment.  Key patient populations include organ transplant patients, cancer patients, the parents of children receiving NICU and pediatric care, accident victims, military veterans receiving treatment for PTSD, and many others.  IMD Guest House never turns families away for financial reasons, and many guests could not complete their treatment without its services.  IMD Guest House stayed open throughout the pandemic, and while medical traffic slowed, the organization provided lodging to front-line medical workers.

Before working in nonprofit, he worked for more than 25 years in marketing with Coca-Cola, advertising, and local politics.   Adam earned an MBA from Kellogg at Northwestern in 1989, and a BA in political science from Washington University in St. Louis in 1985.

Adam believes in service outside of work, and is proud to he been a member of  the Rotary Club of Chicago, a tutor at East Village Youth Program, and an adult tutor of Literacy Volunteers of America.  He lives in Wicker Park with his wife, and enjoys painting, cooking, and a good meal.
