Our 2008 High School Senior scholarship recipients were honored today and presented with the first installment of their 4 year scholarship awards.  This year's winners, introduced by Scholarship Committee chair John Caldwell, were Vanessa and Jessica Silverstein, Megan Bradly, Eudenia Robles, Lara Rich and Trevor Sughrue

John explained how difficult it was for the committee to choose only 6 of the 17 qualified students who applied this year.   Remember, the more money we raise (primarily via the golf tournament) the more scholarships we can afford to give.

Each student took a minute to introduce themself and talk a little about their plans for college and beyond.

Vaness and Jessica Silverstein are planning on attending UCB in the fall.   They've been involved in sports (varsity tennis), politics, community volunteering and their local Rotary Interact Club.

Megan Bradly will be attending UC Davis.   She's a varsity swimmer and volleyball player.   She's served as presidents of both the Pie club and Interact.

Eudena Robles is looking forward also attending UC Davis and plans to study biology.  She's an active community volunteer, paticularly with the Boys and Girls club.

Lara Rich is on her way to UCSB with a plan to major in PoliSci and International Relations.   She's a volunteer with the Women's Organic Garden project and the Homeless Services Center.

Trevor Sughrue will be staying a little closer to home, attending UCSC in the fall.  The techie of the bunch, Trevor plans to study bioinformtics.   He's an avid soccer player, ref and coach.
