Rotary Club of Kirkland scholarship recipient Drew Fialho reports he has garnered enough funding to support fully his trip to Washington, D.C. He provides club members the following update on his funding efforts.Thank you again for sponsoring my trip to the Washington Journalism and Media Conference! Since I last spoke with you, I’ve raised another $855 through my GoFundMe page. I’m fully funded by combining that amount with your generous donation and some of my family’s savings! I leave for Washington, D.C. on July 10, and return on the 15th. On this trip, I will have the opportunity to attend speeches by industry leaders and be challenged to work with my peers through simulations and group discussions.
I will also even receive college credit through George Mason University! This trip is a fantastic opportunity, and I cannot wait to learn more about the world of professional broadcasting and journalism. As the student leader of Lake Washington High School’s award-winning news program, KANG TV News, I am very excited to incorporate the skills I learn at WJMC back into our community.
