July "Spirits" Speaker Series Expanded

The Rotary Club of Kirkland's "Lift Your Spirits" July speaker series includes presentations from several beverage industry leaders, and tasting will be included in the cider program! At this week's meeting, wine making consultant and co-founder of the Betz Family Winery, Bob Betz, offered his perspective on how and why the wine industry has grown in Washington state, where we are now, and the opportunities and challenges of the future. Next week, the co-founder of Maelstrom Brewing, Dr. Scott Vanderheiden, will provide Rotarians a vats-eye view into the development of craft brewing in Kirkland. Then, Dr. Jeff Peterson will entertain Rotarians with the history of cider production around the world, an overview of how cider is produced, and the experiences of a personal journey in the cider business. Thank you to Dave DeBois for assembling this speaker series.
