The City of Lewisville to declare March 16 as Lewisville Rotary Day

We had a fantastic turnout at both clubs for the Lewisville Rotary Declaration at City Hall March 16, 2015
The following is the proclamation read by Mayor Dean Uckert with 40+ Members from both Lewisville Morning and Lewisville Noon Rotary Clubs behind him in the Council Chambers
Whereas Rotary was first established in Chicago in 1905 by 4 business and professional leaders interested in sharing fellowship with peers who shared a common desire for integrity and fairness in business and community relationships, and
Whereas this initial group grew to become Rotary International with over 34,000 clubs and more than 1.2 million members in some 220 countries and areas of the world over the next 110 years, and
Whereas Rotary Members are expected to adhere to the Rotary Code of Conduct that includes high ethical standards, integrity, application of vocation toward the good of those in need and in the community, fairness, respect and honor, and
Whereas Rotary has come to be known for its members that espouse “Service above Self” in all they do for their communities both locally and internationally, and
Whereas Rotary International Chartered the Lewisville Noon Rotary Club on Apr. 24, 1962, and
Whereas the Lewisville Noon Rotary Club sponsored the Lewisville Morning Rotary Club which received its charter on Dec. 23, 1995, and
Whereas members of Rotary at both clubs have served the Lewisville community through their many community service projects including Student of the Month Recognition, blood drives, Holiday Flag Distribution Programs, Flag Retirement Ceremonies, scholarship contributions, Backpacks for Back-to-School, LHS and HHS 4-Way Test Speech Contests, LHS and HHS Rotary Youth Leadership Awards, Household Hazardous Waste Collection, CCA Food Pantry Support, Dictionaries for Lewisville ISD 3rd Graders, the STEM Initiative at Central ES, Central ES Adopt-a-School, Interact Programs at Lewisville HS and Hebron HS, the Western Days Car Show, the Bunny Breakfast and Breakfast with Santa and many others over the years, and
Whereas Rotarians around the globe have contributed funding and boots on the ground to the elimination of the deadly disease of polio in all but three countries of the world,
