istrict 5790 held a fantastic foundation seminar hosted by Fort Worth East and moderated by our good friend PDG Dan Morales.

Our club has a proud tradition of supporting The Rotary Foundation. We have been a 100% Rotary Foundation Sustaining Member Club for years, 82% of our club are Paul Harris Fellows, Several of our members are Multiple Paul Harris Fellows and now we are shooting to be a 100%Paul Harris Fellowship club.

The morning began with a welcome from PDG Paul Geisel a member of the host club.

ImageDr. Quick provided an enlightening rundown on how Rotary's Peace Studies Programs are funded and the process for identifying and vetting potential area candidates for these scholarships which are funded through our foundation donations.

ImagePDG Paul Lucas provided an enlightening talk on Rotary's Future Vision and how it will affect our district and our clubs access to project grants and funding.

PDG Sharron Miles discussed our motto doing good in the world focusing on six areas (Peace & Conflict Resolution, Disease Prevention & Treatment, Water & Sanitation, Maternal & Child Health, Basic Education & Literacy and finally Economic & Community development.

The exciting aspect of these focus is that  everything starts at the club level. Rotary has reorganized how the grants will be distributed, but they will be distributed for clubs to use on the projects they have identified in the six key areas whether those projects are for some far away place in need or in our own back yard.

Over the next several weeks we will be learning exactly how the new grant writing process works. We will be using our e-Bulletin & this web page to educate our members.

The Lewisville Community & Lewisville Morning Rotary received some good news at the seminar. Our matching grant to provide dictionaries for 3rd graders at 10 of LISD's elementary schools was approved.
