2012 District 5790 Conference:    This years District Conference is being held at the Fort Worth Convention Center starting on Friday May 18, 2012 through Sunday May 20, 2012.

Members are encouraged to attend as much of the convention as possible. If you only have time to come to the Saturday evening meal and Rotary's got Talent, fine. Just sign up for that. Click on the link below to register for either or all of the events or just those you can attend.

Parade of Presidents:   The convention will start Friday with the Parade of Presidents. George or his representative will be carrying the flags of Haiti, Mexico & Argentina representing the work of our club supporting Gordon at Haiti & with R.I.T.E. (Mexico) and the exchange student from Argentina we hosted. I understand that the Dallas Cheer Leaders will be there to cheer all the club presidents. Actually, I am not sure about them cheering for the club presidents - but they will be there for there as conference greeters. Former Cowboy, Chad Hennings is the keynote speaker. How can you beat that as a start to the conference?

The remainder of the afternoon will include International and Foundation events including a presentation from our district Peace Scholar Jeff Whitfield, introduction of the GSE teams and International project presentations.

Rotary's Got Talent:   Friday's events will end with dinner and a Rotary's Got Talent show with members of our own club singing a diddy adapted for Rotary themes by Bob Troyer. Come and support your LMR Rotarians! And, all these years Howard has been saying we don't sing. Do you believe in miracles?

There will be a Rotary Kids camp available all day Saturday for members that are attending conference and have children 5 to 13 years old. Run by the Director of the Boys & Girls club of North Central Texas they have an exciting day planned for our "youngins".

Saturdays morning events include youth exchange, Governor's Blood Challenge and New Generations discussions.

Unfortunately, our club has a conflict with the Saturday afternoon convention activities. Presumably, the majority of our club members will be at the MCL Grand Theater Plaza for the LMR 2nd Annual Flag Retirement Ceremony. But that should not stop anybody from coming back to Fort Worth Convention Center afterward for the Governor's Award Dinner at 6 PM. The Speaker is Pete Erickson from Rotary International.

Bluebonnet Society:   Ladies, I think the men in our club would forgive you, if you skipped the flag retirement ceremony in order to attend Saturday's luncheon. We will be celebrating 25 years of Women in Rotary. Keynote speaker is Sylvia Whitlock who accepted the club presidency office for her club in 1987, the year that the Supreme Court ruled in favor of allowing women to join all male service clubs. Today, women make up 26% of our membership in district 5790.
