At the August 16th weekly meeting we heard an exceptionally inspirational message from representatives of the Portage Ontario program.  Daniela Rodrigo, Manager of Development, Ontario and Evan, a resident of the Elora facility.  Evan's talk was just so compelling that he was given a standing ovation by the Rotarians in attendance!

Evan is just 18 years old, and thanks to the existence of the residential program offered by Portage Ontario, has turned his life around and is getting ready to enter a vocational program at Mohawk College with a goal to becoming an electrician - something that a few years ago probably would not have been possible.  He is now a responsible, confident, well-spoken and thoughtful young man.

The Board of Directors and the Youth Service Committee will be investigating the possibility of sponsoring Evan at the 2019 Camp Enterprise Program, as he is specifically the type of motivated student that the program is geared to.

We have all been invited to join Evan for a tour of the Elora residential facility this Wednesday, August 29th, at 4:00pm.  Portage's Director Development, Sourav Addy, will welcome everyone as they arrive but it will be the kids....the residents....that will conduct the tour.  If you were at the August 16th meeting and want to see this remarkable facility and how they accomplish what they do - or if you weren't at the meeting and want to meet Evan and see for yourself - then you're invited to come to Elora on Wednesday for the tour.
