Guest Speaker Spotlight: Nayeli of Journey Out

D5280 Rotarians Fighting Human Trafficking is honored to welcome Nayeli from Journey Out as our guest speaker at our upcoming meeting.

Nayeli brings over 20 years of nonprofit experience to her work at Journey Out, with a deep background supporting survivors of domestic violence and unhoused populations. She has partnered closely with agencies across the city to assist individuals in crisis, including survivors of commercial sexual exploitation.

Before joining Journey Out, Nayeli served as Senior Site Director for Client Services at Chrysalis, a nonprofit dedicated to helping homeless and low-income individuals find a path to self-sufficiency through employment resources and support. In that role, she oversaw day-to-day operations at Chrysalis's largest site, managing personnel, grants, resources, facility operations, and external partnerships. As a key member of the Client Services Management Team, she helped shape both short and long-term organizational strategy and served as a trusted advisor to senior leadership.

Nayeli's career reflects extensive experience in victim services, re-entry support, and crisis response. A proud Angeleno, she is deeply committed to her community and to the belief that everyone deserves to be treated with dignity and respect. Nayeli holds a Master's Degree in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Organizational Leadership.

Brady Connell is a dedicated Rotarian and champion for service. He served as Senior Assistant Governor for Membership (2021-2024) and Assistant Governor (2020-21) in Rotary District 5280, playing a pivotal role in strengthening membership and engagement.

From 2018 to 2020, Brady spearheaded the District's Habitat for Humanity project, leading efforts that resulted in the construction of 10 homes for deserving families in Culver City. His hands-on leadership reinforced the Rotary mission of service above self by providing long-term stability to families in need.

Brady is a past president of the Playa Venice Sunrise Rotary Club, where he fostered a culture of collaboration, community impact, and fellowship. Since 1990, he has also served as a dedicated Big Brother of Los Angeles, mentoring and guiding young individuals toward a brighter future.

Professionally, Brady is an accomplished television executive producer and showrunner for numerous popular series, including ABC's The Great Christmas Light Fight and Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. His influence extends across the entertainment industry, having played a key role in launching successful reality series including Survivor and The Amazing Race. His ability to tell powerful, inspirational stories on screen mirrors his passion for uplifting communities in real life.

Brady resides in Marina del Rey with his wife, Lauri Chryss, and their two children. Through service, storytelling, and mentorship, Brady remains committed to making a lasting impact in the world around him.
