Rotarians and Friends - please join Rotary Guelph for its Centennial Charter Meeting Celebration

This is a message to remind you to purchase your lunch for our Charter Luncheon Celebration to be held on Friday, February 21, 2020.   Also please note that this will only be possible until Sunday, February 16.  Lunch may not be purchased at the door on the 21st.

Dear Rotarians,

Please don't miss this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Rotary in Guelph as we salute Alexander Stewart who had the foresight to bring Rotary to Guelph in 1920.

For the convenience of those who have not yet mastered purchasing on line, tickets will be available for sale next Friday, February 14 prior to the regular meeting.

Thanks.

Rosemary Clark

In the summer of 1919, after attending meetings at the Rotary Club of Toronto, Andrew Stewart, a Guelph pharmacist, proposed the organization of a club in Guelph.  By February 23, 1920 the documents had been signed to charter the Guelph club and 25 men met in the back office of his drugstore in the downtown square of Guelph to hold the first meeting.  Over the years the organization continued to flourish.  Women were allowed to join in 1989.  Rotarians have spent the last hundred years doing good in the local Guelph community as well as internationally.

This is your invitation to our once-in-a-lifetime Rotary Charter Luncheon to be held Friday, February 21, 2020 in celebration of 100 years of Rotary Service in Guelph.  Members of all clubs in our Cluster, our district, and beyond are cordially invited to join in the celebration.

Be sure to see the original charter documents which will be on display for this event.  Guest speaker Andrew Stewart aka Brian Holstein, a Guelph story teller, will paint vivid pictures of some of the more humorous sides of Rotary as well as its many wonderful accomplishments over the past 100 years.

Mark your calendar also for the Rotary Centennial Gala Gala to be held Saturday evening April 25.

For reservations, please order your tickets on line. You may also register with Rosemary Clark at our Friday regular meetings. Please advise in the comments section of the registrations if there are any food allergies, Space required for assistive devices or if there is a specific person you wish to be seated with.

Reservations need to be received no later than Sunday, February 16th
