This week we will learn more about our members Devica and Per Nystedt, who will each present an "ego speech" about themselves. The Rotary Club Ego Speech is a rite of passage for all new members, giving them the opportunity to share their family history, personal milestones and special interests with their fellow Rotarians. We're looking forward to getting to know Elena and Emilia in a whole new way!
Here is a sneak preview: Per and Devica settled in Gothenburg, Sweden in 1977 where they lived until 1984. Per then had a long assignment in South Shields in the North East of England where Device tried her best to a good mum. They returned “home” for some months but left early 1985 for Hanoi, Vietnam. Since then our dynamic duo have lived and worked long-term in Brazil, Mozambique, South Africa, Nicaragua, Cyprus, Jordan, Iraq, Indonesia, Israel, Liberia, Egypt, Sudan and Rome.
There were also short-term stays - about 2 months or so in various other parts of the same continent of the countries mentioned above, plus Australia (Darwin). We returned to Sweden in 2016 and 3 months later went to our first Rotary meeting in Malmo. So now we know where they have been. What they were doing and, more importantly, why remains a mystery which will be revealed in this evenings ego speeches.
