It was great to be able to again come together face to face last Monday evening at the Canterbury Centre for our Club meeting. Many thanks to Vicki, Deb and the staff at BassCARE who helped with  the Covid safe requirements and all the members and friends who did a great job in happily sticking to the rules.

Also thanks to those members who joined us via Zoom. In hindsight the Zoom camera should have been placed in a better spot to allow the zoomers to see more of the action.

We had a number of announcements including:
  • Amanda and Kevin Xiao are the proud parents of a  bouncing baby boy - well done to all
  • The DIK provided "crocs" have been collected by Tony and will be distributed to a number of charitable organisations linked to the Club
  • Edda very generously distributed free worm tea to anyone keen to give it a go in their garden
  • Ted showed the framed sister agreement which the Club has entered into with the Bairnsdale RC
  • Bob asked for volunteers to help distribute the welcome packs to new Boroondara residents
  • Please advise Ted of your availability for the Camberwell Sunday Market roster for the first half of next year
  • David Zrna cheerfully advised that the Canterbury Rotary lunch group will reconvene again for the first time in  eight months on 16 December. Please let David know if you are coming along at david.zrna@canterburyrotary.org
One of the highlights of the evening was the induction of Joe Flinn as a member of the Club

Joe has been actively involved with the Club over the past few months and we look forward to having him as a member for very many years.

The evening was the first opportunity to formally present membership certificates and badges to new members who had joined us from the former Yarra Bend RC (way back at the start of the year). These members are David Chivers, Anne and Ed Brown, Bob Lambert,  Ken Maher, John Pocock, David Shave, Edda Williams and Kevin Xiao. Welcome to you all.

And a membership certificate and badge was also able to be presented to Elizabeth Shepherd who was able to be with us in person for the first time. Welcome Elizabeth.

The badge presentations continued with Paul Harris Fellow pins and certificates provided  to the members who were advised of their awards at the June Changeover night, but because it was via Zoom could not be handed their certificate and pin.

Congratulations to Graham Bishop, Andrew Mastrowicz and David Zrna on their awards.
