President Lili-Ann provided exciting news from a meeting she and John McCaskill had with Edda Williams, Anne Brown and Bob Lambert from the Yarra Bend Rotary Club last week. The outcome is that they have selected our Club to join when they return their charter on 11 December. They expect to become part of Canterbury on 1 January 2020. In the meantime there will be a period of negotiation and progressive integration. This is very exciting with possibly 5-8 new members joining our Club. The plan is to have a high level meeting in the very near future to plan the integration and to have an MOU about the continuation of several of their programs and relationships with their stakeholders.
Lili-Ann also provided early advice of a golf day on 28 October in support of the Chances Project - start working on your golf swing!
Elisabeth Shepherd provided details of a free BBQ with a great purpose. The BBQ is being held to provide a photo opportunity to promote the upcoming World BBQ Day . The free BBQ will be held at Hays Paddock in Kew East on Sunday 21 July with a 10.30 for 11 am start. Ted Waghorne gave a brief summary of the Rotary International Conference held in Hamburg in June. A presentation was given at the conference on the Rotary4Bees project which Ted advised was well received. Ted indicated that many of the speakers and attendees were younger adults which is great news for the on-going future of the rotary community.
