Ol’ John Henry Westlund
Born October 28, 1931
Novato was my home town.
It was a nice little village until the Golden Gate Bridge was built and then it started to grow. A couple years later Hamilton Field Air Force base was established and explosive growth took place.
I graduated from San Rafael High School in 1949...joined the army in 1951. Married in 56 and moved to Chico in 1957.
Went on to buy a few acres in  Butte Creek Canyon in 1958 and built a house by hand with no hand tools..( it stood until November 8th of 2018) Spent next 60 years enjoying beautiful Butte Creek and the fascinating history of the area.
I paid the bills as a probation officer for  a few years and the remainder of my career was spent at CSUC as a career placement officer -helping grads find their first job.

A great life and a wonderful place to live.....
