Joe Saundercook
Senior Manager, Development, Sheridan College

Joe has been working at Sheridan College for five years. He has been married for 25 years with two grown children. His wife is a teacher; she owns a Montessori school. They do a lot together as a family. Joe comes from a large family of nine children, he is ranked number six. He and his family enjoy living in Peel, great people!

At Sheridan, Joe’s expertise is in sales, marketing. Originally he saw himself going into journalism but he knew he had interest in business. Joe and his brother started their own business. They marketed and created a proper board for kids to break dance on. This was well received and an order of 1200 was placed. This was a great introduction to business but it wasn’t a huge success, however, it led to the next job so things do have benefit along the way. Joe left to join a publishing company; he loved reading and writing. If you are in the right place, you can be successful.

When Joe left the publishing industry, he went to work for a college in a similar position of sales and marketing.  He is enjoying his job at Sheridan college. It’s a pleasure meeting good people and there are lots of individuals out there that are willing to help. At Sheridan he relied on people to open doors for him and the strength he brought to the role is his fundraising experience. Sales is a fine line; business development is about intangible ideas. He also had a great brand to work with, he talks to a lot of companies and organizations for Sheridan, a college that has a lot to offer.

Joe finds the volunteerism that Rotary does to be astounding and he will listen to any ideas that we all have and bring them to Sheridan.
